"NCAA investigators called Clarett's cell phone numbers, relatives, former representatives and friends, and attempted to contact him in person, David Price, the NCAA's vice president of enforcement services, said in a statement.

"Not once did Mr. Clarett respond to our repeated requests to meet with investigators or provide information," Price said. "

From what I read, his agent is saying MC just wants to concentrate on the future (i.e. aint talking), but the NCAAs report makes it seem MC just didn't return calls.

While they don't exactly have supoena power, does an inablity to reach an accuser mean an investigation is not worth pursuing? Shouldn't they at least get an official "no comment"?

And why would NCAA refuse all comment on the matter one day before their ground-breaking announcement ("we tried but noone was home")

Didn't he make some pretty specific allegations that may be verifiable with or without Clarrett returning phone calls?

I have nothing against THE, but I do have a big problem with the NCAA

Not that comes as a huge shock, I actually believed what he said

Screw the NCAA, they are worse than congress.
They have their rules along with their favorites.

That means someone who did worse or broke the same rules as LSU basketball
got a slap on the wrist while they gave us the maximum.
I don't have a problem with paying the price for breaking the rules but discrimination
shouldn't play a factor, it should be equal treatment for everyone, not pick and choose.

Clarett had NOTHING to gain by talkikng to those con artists, and at least a bit to lose. Screw them.

Clarett had a lot to gain by giving them evidence to what he said in his accusations and putting OSU is a lot of hot water by the NCAA

No, by telling the NCAA exactly what he said and helping them prove his accusations which could have led to serious fraud charges, thus putting OSU on serious probation.

    How does this help Clarrett.

If Clarett proves what he said was true, he isn't looked upon as a complete liar...if he already isn't in some eyes.

This makes it look like he fabricated it

I completely disagree. So he didn't cooperate with them? So what, doesn't mean it's any more or less true than it was before. I just don't see having people's faith in him restored as being all that important. He's a football player, not an accountant.
