No target date has ever been hit for a major campus project yet, why should this be any different. I'll tell you something else . . . this won't be the only delay on this project. They always slide.
I had an Industrial Engineering professor when I was at LSU (Zodhi) that had been involved in a large number of campus projects. He told us that the average time it takes for a capmus facility to get built, from the time of its inception, was 19 years. I thought that I misunderstood him because of his accent, but many students asked him to make sure they understood him correctly, and they did. That's inconceivable. I guess that means we get to enjoy another fall of great tailgating at the old golf course!
Doesn't surprise me at all considering how difficult it is to find contractors after Katrina. That and a year seemed tooo good to be true.
yet drive down sherwood or airline and see a huge bank or taco bell standing where the foundation wasnt even there the week before.
That's probably true, but the TAF projects always start on time. Many factors go into finishing on time, mostly weather issues. Aside from raising money, this is the reason why TAF exists. They can avoid all those state bid laws and requirements which draws out the process. Unfortunately, we had to go the state route for the new Alex Box project. TAF was tapped out after all the recent football projects.
