TigerinTally, This is a case of... is the glass half full or half empty... Reporters are going to spin a story to their best interest. Here is the way I would interpret a University confident enough in their program, fans, facilities, State etc... “This is the best place in the world to coach, play, go to school, play the trumpet, raise a family or be a fan. If you don’t want to be here so be it. The University and the program are bigger than an individual coach.” Let the Arkansas, Texas A&M, USC, Nebraska’s of the world hold a financial obligations over their coaches not to leave (that may be what it takes for them not to second guess jumping the fence). We hold, facilities, administration, students, environment, passion, food and fans over our coaches head (Once you coach, play or cheer at LSU… you KNOW there is no greener pasture in sports). Bottom line is, our administration knows if Saban wanted to leave, the Bears would not have thought twice about paying a $1,000,000.00 buy out clause. We have to rely on us to keep him or any of our head coaches here. (“Us” means all of us, the TIGER Nation).
So Saban was only making 1.2 million this past year? That would make $ 3 mil/yr a 150 % increase....is that correct? And does anyone know, including Ramah, how you arrived at $ 3 mil/year?
I don't think we have to worry, Saban has stated that he would like to build a dynasty here at LSU. I think he's a man on a mission. He's not going anywhere.
