That's exactly it, Navy Tiger. Most people don't know what it is, so they are afraid the nation will change to it. I respect the LP, but I am conservative. The only thing I really don't like about the LP is it's focus on medical marijuana. It seems to be an insignificant detail of a party that it exploits to get pot heads to it's side. No offense, that's just how it appears to me. That little quiz on the site is pretty entertaining.
Took the quiz, read the site.....so I'm a libertarian? Who knew???? Actually, I 've always considered myself an independent, slightly right of center. Which means I usually vote Republican, even if I have to hold my nose to do so. From what I read on the site I tend to agree with MOST of the libertarian philosophy, but I don't think I would ever affiliate myself with any one particular party. Which I suppose is a libertarian view in itself.
I was voting for Perot in 92, I believe it was 92? My cousin talked me out of it saying it would be a wasted vote and now I believe he was right, the problem with voting 3rd party is not enough people ever vote for that way to where it would really matter. Most people will always or seem always to vote right or left and not middle of the road. I just don't know if that will ever work in our country.
Man, that's hardly a reason to not cast your vote for a candidate whose principles you actually agree with. Too many people think that way (that their vote wouldn't matter), and thus, the cycle of 3rd party candidates not getting enough votes continues. You've got to start somewhere. Look at it like this: Your vote matters LESS if you vote for the right or left candidate. Consider how wide the margin of victory typically is. Your one vote is more of a waste going to either one of those two bozos. If 3rd parties get a certain percentage of the votes, they can get federal funding in the next election. So your one vote could be a LOT better utilized than if you wasted it on a rep. or dem. See where I'm coming from?
I'm still waiting on a good candidate. Ross Perot is not it. Neither is Ralph Nader. I'm holding out hope for Jack Ryan though...
Alright 157, I hadn't planned on announcing this for a while, but since you asked. I am officially announcing the NoLimitMD for President 2024 candidacy right here in Tiger Forums. You now have hope.
I wouldn't call it a wasted vote, voting for a Republican. I don't agree with everything they stand for but I want more conservative judges, stronger national security and defense. I'm against Abortion, gun control, etc. Party trumps person IMHO It is better for me to vote Republican and uphold some of my beliefs versus voting 3rd party and the opposition gets in by a small margin. A lot of harm can come from the wrong guy getting elected. I might take a chance and vote 3rd party one day if I think someone has a chance but I don't see that happening anytime soon.
