I am off to bed now and the next time you hear from me will be after the big game tomorrow.

I have spent most of the night tonight lurking on various Gator forums. Curiosity got the best of me...

After hearing most Gator fan opinions, (Which was mostly fear of and respect for the LSU Tigers... and uncertainty in the Gator offense) I have come to the conclusion that the Tigers have taken a big bite out of the Gators in the past three years. They are not nearly as arrogant. In fact they are really humble right now.

2002 - LSU spanks the Gators in the Swamp 36-7 (Could have been much worse for the Gators)

2003 - 19-7 FLA Wins - Still they have to watch us march on to a National Championship.

2004 - 24-21 - LSU invades their home turf again and tries to give them the game early and then muscles their way back with an inexperienced QB at the helm. --- Demoralizing The Gators...

We all know that Spurrier owned LSU except for that famous night in Death Valley in 1997, But this Fla team is afraid and banged up....

LSU will win this game 31-17

Fla has two possible mismatches to work during this game. They'll keep hitting that big TE
all day long until LSU stops it. If given more than enough time to pass, Leak will drive the ball all day long on the LSU secondary. If LSU can apply pressure on Leak throughout with their four-man rush (and they should be able to) and shut down the running game ... Florida first down production should be inconsistent and limited to a few big plays, maybe giving them 7-10 points. LSU turnovers will not be zero, and I expect the Gators to score at least 10 points off them. That's about 17 points, as you predicted! I don't believe LSU can score close to 31 against a fired up Florida defense ... unless the Florida offense were to somehow help LSU with about 17 points on turnovers.

This game boils down to a handful of key points, IMO.
    1. Turnovers & Penalties (big advantage Fla)
    2. Good defense, playcalling, execution & adjustments (Toss-up)
    3. Good offense, playcalling, execution & adjustments (edge LSU for their rush game ability)
    4. Special Teams (advantage LSU)
    5. Intangibles such as crowd, early momentum and lead (toss-up)

I don't have a prediction for this game ... for the first time I can remember. The LSU FB Program is on a cliff, looking down to Mediocrity Valley. They just have to ...

AVOID TURNOVERS, BIG DRIVE-KILLIN' PENALTIES & JUST SOMEHOW FIND A WAY TO WIN!

That would be the last time I saw LSU win against a #1 team other than OU for the 2003 NC ... in 1997. We punked Spurrier and took away his shot at a NC ... We really whipped their asses in that game.

Exactly, I don't want to sound like a downer but I have my doubts that we
will beat Florida at home especially with the lack of offense and defense
we seem to have this year.
I don't think Florida is coming in as good as they were in 03 either.
I think both teams are a shell of their former selves.

Doesn't matter who we are playing, where we are playing or when the last time who beat who. What matters is LSU playing up to their potential and not making a million mental mistakes. Games of the past mean nothing today, LSU has more talent and should win period, but it will take better play than we have seen in weeks past. :geauxtige LSU!

Yeah, that was a great game to attend. I remember the Gator Nation riding high and thinking what a pounding they were going to put on LSU because we
had just got by Vandy 7-6 the week before. The old ball coach had even said
"lets hand 50 on these guys", showing little respect for LSU, not that he showed
any respect for anyone at that time.
At that time though LSU had nothing to loose, nobody thought LSU would stay
close let alone beat Florida, but the team and the crowd had something else in
mind. That was the greatest game I ever did see in person, the crowd was pumped all night long and just the noise alone made my head spin. You could have placed jet engines on the Florida bench and not had the same effect as the LSU fans that night, we need that same effort today.

I'm not so sure I understand that statement. We've shown over the last few games that we ARE a pretty good team. Okay, so the competition is/was weak, so what? We had to play what was on the schedule. I really think that had the hurricanes not f'd the start of our season up, we'd be undefeated right now. We would have beaten UNT soundly, with mistakes... DISMANTLED Azz State in our place, and we would have NOT had the letdown against UT. Maybe my comments are a little premature but I think that finally our players are able to put all of the past behind them, focus SOLELY on football and start to believe in a system that WILL win! :geauxtige LSU!
