This is the only game I remember in 4 years where nobody from the opposing team showed up to talk football. A disappointing showing for a supposedly "big time program". But I guess they just breath in their own exhuast fumes, and think they're so much better than everyone, we don't even rate being spoken to. I think they are snobs.

    How about snob/losers?

After 9 straight bowl losses. I'd be bent too... :hihi:

They're in shock right now, they may come later. The ones I spoke to at the airport were pretty nice, I think after they collect themselves they'll come back.......they really thought they'd win ya know. :hihi:

Some of the fans we met outside the dome were kind of anti-social. A few hung around outside the dome to watch the bands and drink/talk. Most were waiting in line outside the doors at 4:30 or sitting on benches near city hall.

OK, I guess this is where the crow is served. Opening mouth, go ahead and insert foot.
    Here's my 2 cents,
    1. Yes, ND shouldn't have been in this game. They will never (nor would anyone else) admit it and turn down the invitaion, but it hurts them more in the long run. I agree w/ the ESPN writer that says the good thing about this game is that the bowl streak will end at 9 b/c next year they're not going to get anything better than a 2nd or even 3rd tier bowl bid, regardless of their record.
    2. Fans - I stopped wearing the purple and gold many years ago because of some of the fans. I must admit though that last night I enjoyed the people we sat around. Sure there were a few genuine a-holes, but everyone else was fun to be around for the most part. My kids had a great time (except my son who really got upset at the end). As far as ND fans being anti-social, I'm not sure what you're expecting. I saw some interacting w/ LSU fans (although they may have been from here like me and were visiting w/ freinds). I also saw the ones sitting off on their own, but there were also a few drunk LSU fans taunting them so there wasn't much motivation to be social. It's just different types of people w/ a different background than we have here in south LA, that have a different way of enjoying a football game.
    3. The Game - First, I think you send a bad signal to your team when you try to run a fake punt on your first drive deep in your own territory. I don't mind lining up and running a play to go for it, but a gimmik play that early lets your players know that you think it'll take a bunch of tricks to overcome their deficient skill level. I also think ND gave up on the run game too early. I would never have thought that ND's offence would have done so poorly w/ such a good showing by the O-Line. LSU just did a great job of covering. And finally, I'm going to join the chorus of ND fans calling for a new Def. Coord. It's one thing to have slower players, but they've got to come up with a more aggressive scheme to give themselves a chance.
I'll ride off into the sunset now. I've enjoyed my time w/ this forum, and I'll probably check in throughout the year next year. Just looking forward to ND dominating in next years Ind. Bowl (at least I'll get to go see them again!)

PS - I'm already pulling strings to get tickets to the Bama game next year. I think that will be the funnest game ever!

Thanks for returning, I thought you would. You made it fun leading up to the game and sorry to hear about your son. Good luck next year- you get USC at home and hope you pull it off!

I've said it many times in the past, and from experience...crow is better when served warm! It still takes some large...guts to come in here after last night's "game" and eat in front of all of us. Sorry your son was upset. I remember as a small child crying after the LSU-Nebraska 20-21 Orange Bowl loss. I got over it though.

I don't think the ND fans are anti-social, they just tend to be a little more reserved than we're used to. My sister went to grad school at ND, and in her first letter home she mentioned that her roommates were typical yankees and she didn't know if she would fit in. She's very good friends with all of those yankees now, it just took them a little while to open up.

We met several couples outside the dome before going in to the game. They didn't approach us, but opened up once we initiated conversation. One couple had a daughter in the band. They were here more for her than the game, but they said they took some tours and had a great time in the city. I thanked them for coming in and they said they would come back to NO in the future.

The only ND fan that I observed being truly classless was a blond wearing a Quinn jersey in the Terrace of the LSU endzone. She, by the end of the game, was clearly intoxicated, and was not handling herself with any class at all. Upon her exit, she displayed the universal sign language. Her boyfriend/husband/companion was clearly embarrassed, and unsuccessfully tried to calm her down. Outside of the few isolated persons, everyone we ran into was very classy.
