I just read an article about nutria rats invading San Francisco:
    https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2024/10/san-francisco-is-being-invaded-wildly-destructive-20/
The first time I'd ever heard of them was on tigerfan.com. Some of you were discussing the trapping, hunting and eating of these rodent delicacies.
At the time, I blew it off to the same guys who skipped an LSU home game because it coincided with opening day for squirrel season.
What do you think? Are Nutrias the next plague or the cure for hunger in America? Isn't there money to be made here? Plaquemines barbecues, guided hunting tours of their habitats? They seem less dangerous than wild boar hunting in Texas......
[As an aside, could the Nutria Rat become Clemson's next mascot?] th-1082527358.jpeg

If I recall (and it may be in your article) they were brought in to help control some type of Lilly pad or something like that. Whatever the case they are every bit of a nuisance as the hogs.

my best friend runs the state's program to pay hunters to kill them. he will give you 6 dollars a tail if you get out there and take em out. some people bring in tails by the hundreds and are out in the swamps with a 22 rifle stacking up dead nutria. but they reproduce so much I am not sure if it helps, just another state boondoggle
