(On Kevin Vickerson and Manuel Wright and how they’ve persevered through tough times) – “They both had what I was talking about earlier. I call it the brook trout look, too. Do you know what that is? Have you ever caught a fish and you look at him and they just look like they have nothing. Their eyes are just kind of blank. I saw that look out there today. You can call it the look, the brook trout look or whatever, but basically what it means is that you don’t have the eye of the (LSU) tiger, you’re not ready to do what you have to do and something is beating you up out here and you can’t let that happen.”

Vickerson and Wright, who have not played well in the team's first two preseason games, were both involved in skirmishes during Tuesday morning's practice. At one point, Wright got into it with guard Frank Middleton, but after the offensive lineman swatted his facemask a couple of times, Wright turned and walked back to the huddle.

At the start of his press conference, Saban said the message of the day to the young players was that they need to show the maturity to persevere through the hard times.

Asked later if he could identify players on his team who do have the "eye of the tiger" the coach said it was an family business.

"If I wasn't asked specifically about (Vickerson and Wright) I wouldn't have said anything about them, or if they weren't young guys that we are trying to light a fire any way that we can," Saban told reporters. "So, if you'd do me a favor and put that in the paper, maybe that will help out."

Dolphins defensive end Jason Taylor said having the eye of the tiger is something that something that some players have and some don't — and it's a tough thing to acquire. As a veteran, he can encourage them, but he also has to show them how it's done.

"At the end of the day, you go out there and try to do your job and try and kick someone's butt, they'll follow," Taylor said. "Success breeds followers and the better you do your job the more people who will follow you and do it."
