considering Tiger fans' legendary disregard for NCAA/SEC/University rules prohibiting alcohol in the stands, but . . . Can't something be done about the *&^%$ cowbells? Even watching on tv it was annoying (well, only until halfway through the 3d quarter, when the hometown crowd left and  fans dominated Scott Field  ). I guess what I'm saying is that you rarely, if ever, see a Tiger fan on tv in TS waving a whiskey bottle or even flask but these MooU'ers are shown all over the stadium clanging those $&%*% bells. It made it worse last night when the ESPNumskulls showed a sign saying that artificial noisemakers are forbidden in the stands and then show deluded MooU'ers ringing away. Why can't the game officials do something about it? They would take action if the fans started throwing things on the field, wouldn't they? Why does the onus have to be on the visiting team to complain?
laws tend to not be enforced when they are insignificant. b/c they have little to no effect on anyhting other than making their fans look like their straight off of a pringer taping, the cowbells are the equivalent to ripping a tag off of a mattress.
While I agree those bells were annoying, they ultimately were proven to be as ineffective as Moo U's passing attack. For that reason it didn't really bother me, but it made the State fans look rather silly.
Because the SEC officals have no balls. The other SEC teams should just return the favor and everybody should carry those compesssed air horns just for when State comes to town.
The ESPN announcers mentioned that it was up to the opposing coach. If he thought that the noise was a nuisance, he had the right to complain to the referees and then the home team would be assessed a penalty. Although it would have been nice to not have to listen to them all night, imagine how much worse it would have been had we officially complained about it. It was handled the best way for all parties, just plumb run them out of the stands by whooping the home team. That quieted it down without playing crybaby. :sob:
Oohh we sang to them as they left the stands... "Na na na na, na na na na, heeey heeey heey good-bye..." :hihi:
Always trying to bring down the little guy, come on guys you gotta lettem have something. They don't have any football they gotta keep entertained somehow.
They don't have much tradition as it is. If the cowbell ban was enforced, they wouldn't have any. It had limited impact any way. Let'em ring'em.
