1. OU Quarterback Thompson Arrested For DUI

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) _ University of Oklahoma backup quarterback Paul Thompson has been arrested in Norman on a driving under the influence complaint, according to a police report.

Thompson, 20, was arrested at 1:20 AM Sunday after running a red light, the report said. He was later released on $1,000 bond.

Kenny Mossman, director of OU athletic media relations, said Thompson's arrest would be handled internally.

``Those issues are always the same for us,'' he said. ``It's handled within the framework of the team and coaching staff.''

Mossman did not say whether disciplinary action would be taken against Thompson, a junior from Leander, Tex.

Thompson recently completed spring practice as the No. 2 quarterback on the depth chart behind Heisman Trophy winner Jason White.

As a backup the last two seasons, Thompson completed 31 of 47 passes for 319 yards.

With White sitting out of the annual Red-White spring game, Thompson completed 21 of 30 passes for 311 yards.

  2. Goes to show, OU has no secondary because the good ones are gone. White is still recovering from the beatings he took late last year and in the Dome.

Passing teams will toast OU this year.
  3. HMMMMMMMMM !!!

I'm thinking that the Longhorns will beat the Okies this year !

Of course, Mack Brown is still coaching in Austin and he has something of a Sooner Phobia. The Crimson & Cream is probably the smart bet !

  5. It's not the smart bet it's the only bet as long as the king of underacheivers is the head coach at Texass. :geaux: :lsug: :champs:
  6. Yeah...right... :dis:
  7. CFN's preview on Oklahoma looks pretty spot-on to me. How can you bet against a team that averaged over 40 ppg in 2003...AND returns 10 starters, one of whom won the Heisman?

Anyway, put me down for a Longhorn win as well. Why? Sure, Bob Stoops can outcoach Mack Brown 8 days a week but UT has too much talent to lose to OU each and every single year ad infinitum.

Law of averages--which isn't precisely applied here in this case, but just go with it---says UT finally breaks through.

OU will crush Kansas St., too. Damn KSU: if they had lain down like dogs in the Big XII Title Game like they SHOULD have  , it woulda been LSU knocking off "one of the greatest teams of all time" in the Sugar Bowl!

Trust me, the import of that would have been enough to overwhelm any "USC=People's Champ" bullsh**. :champs:
  8. KSU sucked all season until that OU game in the Big 12 Championship. Texas played very poorly against them earlier in the year and still beat them. Sproles wasn't half as dominant, either.

KSU's not going to be very good next season. Still a shot to win the Big 12 North because it'll be even weaker than it was this year, but they most likely won't come close to beating whoever they play in the title game.

Plus, its time for a South team to win the Big 12 next year.

    1996: Texas over Nebraska (South)
1997: Nebraska over Texas A&M (North)
1998: Texas A&M over Kansas State (South)
    1999: Nebraska over Texas (North)
2000: Oklahoma over Kansas State (South)
    2001: Colorado over Texas (North)
    2002: Oklahoma over Colorado (South)
2003: Kansas State over Oklahoma (North)

Its crazy how long this streak of North/South has gone on. Especially because 4 out of the 8 have been upsets.
  9. Actually, OU still has a pretty good secondary. They have several good players back. And Jason didn't play in the red and white game because they already know what he can do. If he needed to play he could have. None of the proven players played much in the red and white game because they wanted to see what the new guys can do.
