Tiger fans may be pleased to hear this. UGA won the football game. Tigerband won the war. On the way back to the buses from the stadium, a UGA fan, probably inebriated, picked a fight with a tuba player. Mistake #1. Tuba players are typically somewhat rotund. Now, Tigerband has concrete instructions not to interact with ANYTHING when marching in the parade block. But this guy tried to take the tuba player's hat (called a shako). When the unnamed tuba player tried to retrieve it, the fan leapt on him. Three other tuba players inserted themselves into the scuffle, and it threatened to escalate into one hell of a fight. For a minute, I thought the entire band was going to break ranks and join the dog pile. (Pun, sorry). Eventually, the band reformed the parade block and left the bloodied fan, and his cohorts, to be dealt with by our two LA state troopers, as well as Athens police. There was another irate fan who got slammed onto the hood of car by one of our troopers, but I never heard why. Anyway. Tigerband fought it's way out of the stadium. And kicked butt. You'd think people'd learn from the Damon Duval incident. We take care of our own, dammit.
Good job!! Bring truth to the sign I keep seeing about our band can kick your (something here) ass. I guess it's on off the the field.
Sorry to hear you had to put up with some drunk dumbass Atreus. They were everywhere I'm sure. I was in the club level so I didn't have to put up with many of them. What did you think about the stadium/crowd as compared to others? That was the loudest I had ever heard Sanford in my life. My vocal chords are shot.
sorry, I find no sloace in a LSU tuba player kicking some inebriated fan's ass. all I know is one big loss, 45-16.
I hate to be the sound of reason here but I heard of this story and it ended quite a bit different... Either way
When marching in parade block (ie, marching to and from the stadium), the band has instructions not to let anyone through our lines. That means no one, including LSU fans, can walk through. Poor UGA fan learned this the hard way. I'm sure it hurts to get beat in the head by a bunch of tuba mouthpieces. He's either in a hospital or in jail right now. Can you imagine him in jail: "Yeah, I got beat up by a marching band." UGA was probably the worst stadium I've ever been to as far as fan behavior. And that includes Auburn and Ole Miss. I understand that they were excited to beat us after being owned twice last year, but that's no excuse to throw coins and GLASS BOTTLES at the band. Come on, the BAND. How weak is that? All the stuff being thrown at us during the game only fueled the fire that ended up in a bloody UGA fan after the game. And UGA's band is the most classless group of people I've ever seen. Last year, at the SECCG, their colorguard said they were going to kick our ass, while they were marching their pregame show, and at UGA, the whole band chanted "Nick Saban is a ho!" And Tiger Band is being criticized because we have a cheer called "Chinese Bandits"! Any respect I had for Georgia, I lost on Saturday. I know that every school has their *******s (including LSU). But it wasn't just one incident, it was a series of things that happened. I've never seen a group of fans take a win so badly. Onward to Florida.
