Texas's top reciever was thier tight end. A tight end can get mismatches more often than any position on the field.. they are too big for a DB to defend, too fast for most linebackers... I've said it before, I'll say it again.. If LSU is gonna run all of these damn two tight end sets (which i hate) they need to get the tight ends more involved in the passing game...

He was their unsung hero, IMO. Obviously, Young is the clear-cut MVP...but their TE, as you pointed out, was simply awesome for them. He made clutch catch after clutch catch.

I sure hope Dickson can do the same for us in the years to come!

I agree, tight-ends can be big difference makers in a game, not only do the get mismatches but they can sneak out to get open in the middle of the field pretty often too. I think probably one of the best tight ends i've seen in college football would have to be Vernon "the duke" Davis for Maryland.

We tried to use the tight end some through out the season - maybe not enough, but it wasn't all that successful for us even when we tried it. Why is that? Some of the time it was our TE. Many times our QB just doesn't even seem to look that way even when they get open. So, is it just because we lack the type of TE that can be that player for us, or is it because of our young QB(s), or is it just coaching?
