Things are looking VERY good for this team!

What are the highlights reading this morning - Have any of you read? "LSU cruises past Mississippi State" "LSU defense dominates" "LSU shuts down Mississippi State" - Anybody with a brain that knows college football, knows that LSU went into a very difficult atmosphere, played a very good SEC top 25 football team, and did what the hell they needed to do to get the win, and got the hell out of there.

What several fans fail to understand, is that Miles is not coaching this team to meet "your" expectations. He doesn’t coach this team to keep the fans happy by looking at statistics or highlight reels. He coaches this team to WIN, and whatever it takes that game, we will get it done. I tip my hat to State, they played their damn hearts out, out there last night. I didn’t expect anything less from that group. That game was the last of their hopes and dreams of wining the SEC and having a big year, they were at home on National TV, on Primetime, and they left it all out on the field. But most importantly, LSU went into that environment and laid the wood down on a very good team. We need to work on our redzone offense, convert just 2 of our 4 FG's into TD's: it is 27-6 LSU, convert on all 4 FG's: 35-6 LSU

Our Defense held an Offense that averaged:
PPG: 50 - LSU held them to 6
    Yards/Game: 588 - LSU held them to 193
    Pass Yards/Game: 267 - LSU held them to 141
    Rush Yards/Game: 321 - LSU held them to 52

Our Offense did about what I expected
    Lee: 21/27 213 yards 1 TD & 1 INT
    Ware: 22 car 107 yards
    Ford: 13 car 50 yards
    RR: 6 rec 98 yards 1 TD
    Beckham: 8 rec 61 yards

You guys have to remember, coaches are still working on getting adjusted to Lee running this offense. We havent played 2 or 3 pansy schools to get time to gel. We have played 2 ranked teams with High Octane Offenses away from home. The focus has been on getting this defensive unit where the coaches needed it in order to compete is these 2 games along with WVU next week.

We are winning football games, and downright dominating in several areas, while playing in the Lion’s Den.

I would have taken it with a smile, If you told me the day after JJ got arrested and suspended that:

LSU would be 3-0 ranked in the Top 3 in the country
    Lee would be 40-59 444 yards 3 td's & 1 int
    Ware would have 226 yards & 3 td's
    Ford would have 218 yards & 4 td's
    RR would have 12 rec 229 yards & 2 td's

AND we had the #1 Defense in the country

LSU is on pace for a great season. What I like most about this offense, is they are improving EVERY GAME. The scoreboard may not show that last night, but if you watched the game, the plays that were made, the great passes, the great catches, the great cut backs, we ARE getting better. Look at those stats, Lee passed for 200, Ware rushed for 100, Randle caught for 100….

Lee is on pace for a 2,500 Yard season with 15 to 20 td's
    Ware & Ford are on pace for a 2,000+ yards combined & 25 to 30 td's combined
Defense is on pace to break NCAA records and be the #1 defense in the country

Go back and look at LSU in 2007 or Bama in 2009 - we are right on track

You just made me realize that the combo of Ware/Ford have the exact same number of rushing yards as Lee has thrown for, 444.

    Cool stat.

Lee's on pace for just under 1800 yards. But if you give him the 78 yards that Mett threw for vs NW, then Lee is on pace for just under 2100 yards.

I suspect he'll end up closer to 2000 at year's end.

Yes. Commentators mentioned the D having "swagger" and "strutting;" --but not in a negative way, but because they are feeling confident about their performances and feel that they are the Real Deal.

    --as they are!

    Who dat? WE dat!

Play on both sides of the ball was outstanding last night. Both are loaded with youngsters and should improve each week. LSU has finally found a QB after years of frustration. Definitely has the potential to be a special season , but many tough tests ahead.

    Great post 4-Life ..

I think this is the best team we've had since 2003. I can see some awards headed this way for the Defense. And I'm enjoying the positive energy that people are showing the offense this year. Nobody on it is going to win the Heisman or anything like that .. but as a "unit" they are performing well above expectations.

It's comforting when the scoreboard reads LSU 9-6, and you feel comfortable. Defense rocks!
