Look, I hope folks don't interpret this comment in any way defending a 20 point loss to Wichita State :rolleye33: , but I've heard this sentiment a few times now. LSU was in the final four a few years back and so, obviously, they should be going back every year right?
First, I just thought I'd point the records so far this season of some "caliber" and "pedigreed" coaches...
Illinois, Bruce Weber, 7-4
Louisville, Rick Pitino, 7-3
Maryland, Gary Williams, 6-6
Kentucky, Billy G, 5-5
Washington, Romar, 7-4
Texas Tech, Bobby Knight, 6-5
My point? I guess all of these are "top tier" caliber coaches, many of whom are just a few years removed from NCAA greatness. Illinois was a championship team a few years back. Pitino was a perennial NCAA top 4 seed a few years ago. Maryland, also not too far removed from their final four runs... Washington, same thing. Kentucky, well, went after a "star" after pushing out Tubby, now what do they have to show for it?
So, LSU is sitting here at 7-4. Now, I'm not saying Brady should be untouchable, all I'm saying is that college basketball is an up and down game and the season is young. We should support the team as it's trying to play better, improve and try to make a dent in the SEC.
This season will come down to how this team has come together by SEC play. Can they get a winning record in the SEC? That'll surpass most prognostications by hoops pundits... keep that in mind.
