Les takes some getting used to. The way Saban left the program many people thought they would like him to come back. Now that he is at Bama most let it go. Then they turned their real attention to Miles. When you do that you realize hey, he's not so bad. Then he handles the Katrina season, has a good season last year, despite the AU game, and Now he has us on the brink of a championship season by showing some real ****s. Yeah, why would we want him.

As far as if Miles were to leave, the only thing I would say is God Bless him, but only if he left for Michigan. As far as Saban, I'm not happy he left, but I really would not want him back even if he wanted to come back. Don't know why, it just is.

And I agree with other posters, LSU would be able to attract another great coach.

This team has a "swagger" about them that I don't remember with Saban here. I know defensively we scared the bejeezus out of people, but offensively we were timid to some degree.

The difference under Miles is that he plays to win vs the Saban approach of having the offense "not lose the game" mentality.

Saban can try to take all the credit for "brining in players" and for those that say Miles is "winning with Saban's talents" then remember this:

    1. 77% of LSU's points this season have been scored BY LES MILES RECRUITS

    2. Saban may be responsible for brining in top-flight performers like Dorsey and Steltz and Doucet--even JaMarcus....but it was MILES and MILES' COACHING STAFF that have developed those guys and coached them to where they are today.

    3. If you are one that wants to give Saban all kinds of credit for Miles' success, then you have to give DiNardo credit for Saban's '01 SEC title as Saban won with DiNardo's recruits.

It seems to be more a reflection of media hype than anything else. If you troll the forums long enough, you are bound to find fans to say that or just rivals "posing" as fans to stir the pot. I still hear discontent amongst some LSU fans about Miles, but in general I think most of these fans are just reactionary types, hot heads or just new fans. An SEC championship and possibly NC would all but squash that talk.

You see all those rumors perpetuated in the media and rivals treat Glenn like he is a fan and gets the poop straight from Miles himself, which of course we know is not true. It's no wonder they all spout this stuff because a powerful LSU is not something other fans enjoy in the SEC. Especially for fans living in the "Saban nation". In order for that myth to come full circle, it's not enough that bama be returned to greatness, but LSU must also fall back into obscurity.

Miles is defying this prophecy and shrugging off even more stupid comments by the media(repeated by rival fans) about us being the "most talented team in the country" and not winning it all. Deduction - Miles is an incapable coach. What is comical about this is obvious. Does the media hold the same standard for the coach at Notre Dame, Oklahoma,Texas or even USC? Have those schools not out recruited us? Why don't they win a NC every year? How can they possibly ever lose any game(and to unranked opponents at that)?

The truth is the media have not figured out that Saban did put the final pieces together to show us how to build a sustainable winning program, but Huey Long he ain't. By that I mean that it did not fall apart when he left. This ship continues to run fine without Saban and with Miles and may continue to run fine without Les if he leaves. I think most fans really do appreciate what Miles is doing here but rivals/media do not.

Besides, contentious drama (Saban vs Miles vs LSU) sells a lot more newspapers and gets a lot more clicks on web pages. Miles feels the love down here and will feel it even more on January 7th.:thumb:

Or as Herman Edwards was fond of singing when he was with the Jets, 'YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME'. :D :thumb:

I don't hear it any more. I heard it a lot when we first hired CLM. There was a lot of skepticism among LSU fans when we first hired him.

If this Auburn grad is currently hearing this, then I have no idea where it's coming from and is probably an extremely small minority opinion. Of course, the Michigan rumors aren't going to stop swirling, but declaring that CLM is gone is far from reality as far as I can tell.

The loss to Tennessee in 2005 was rough for many fans. This started much of the negative commentary, post-Katrina or not. If you recall, the national media once had the opposite take: LSU fans were too critical and Miles was a fine coach needing time to establish his program. Maybe so many of us bad-mouthed Miles it became contagious.

Should this season end with us either winning the BCS or coming up a close number 2, Les will very soon start winning over national types as well.
