All I've heard and read all morning long is how USC can split a Nat'l Title by winning the Rose Bowl. I believe that, with this in mind, the voters can in good conscience drop Okla. to #3 where they belong without shutting out their beloved USC with their pretty, glittery Trojan horsies and stuff of a piece of the championship pie.

Funny thing is, it won't happen that way.

Rose Bowl is on January 1 and, from what I saw of SC yesterday and of Michigan two weeks ago, the Wolverines will punish the Trojans. SC hasn't faced anyone even approaching the caliber of Michigan, who can match SC speed for speed on both sides of the ball.

SC's biggest weakness is it's pass defense and Navarre will shred that secondary when he's not handing off to a Chris Perry who should have success on the ground versus SC (if Oregon State had committed to the run yesterday, there is little reason to believe Steve Jackson would have had less than 100 yds, so why not Perry?)

In short, Michigan exposes SC and finishes #2 in the final polls and we face Oklahoma in a "brawl for it all" three days later.

I agree 100 % with you on this.

USC can suck it! They don't get no part of LSU's National Championship.

Michigan will "shock and destroy" USC like Kansas State did to Oklahoma.

It will be USC's first true test....and they will fail miserably.

Agreed. IF USC wins the Rose, since there is not a better system, then yes they deserve a split champoinship. But Michigan will absolutely search and destroy.

Ironic how we needed Michigan to beat Ohio State a couple of weeks ago........and now, it looks like, we need them to beat USC.
They came thru the first time and I am positive they will come thru again. Are they our buddies up-North??? Go Blue.

    I agree with you guys.........

Michigan will shreed USC's Defense, USC hasn't played anyone
all year or they wouldn't be with only 1 loss.

After all they lost to Cal

Swerved It appears my hypocrisy knows no bounds.

This is what I have so far....

    ESPN/Coaches Poll - LSU #2
    Sagarin Poll - LSU #2
    Anderson Hester - LSU #2
    Massey - LSU #1

    ...lookin good so far....

and... where is that guy that said my prediction of 35-17 was "laughable" now?

    LSU - 2003 SEC Champions

    Predicted score : 35-17
    Actual score: 34-13

If USC loses to Michigan, then there is no debate. If USC can't beat Michigan in the Rose, they sure as hell couldn't have beaten OU.

That's the great thing about this setup: a whole 72 or so hours between the end of the Rose Bowl and the beginning of the Sugar Bowl, meaning we get a nice 2-3 day buildup about a "true National Championship" game.

I agree: if they can't beat Michigan , they couldn't beat OU.
