Our defense is still ranked third in the nation with only 278.9 yards allowed per game. This after getting "gashed" by Ole Miss and Arky the last two games. I know both games looked ugly with the Ole Miss QB running wild, and of course, the "vaunted" Arky running game... We're also banged up and I think that has some effect on some of the schemes used. My observation -- our defense is not as bad as folks are making it out to be. Perhaps it's better to view this from the perspective of college FB offenses. I almost hate to agree with Danielson on CBS when he talks about college football offenses today, and the fact that it takes time for defenses to catch up. I do think it holds some truth... Most of us on this board watch a lot of college FB, and I think we can all agree to an extent that there are some monster offensive numbers out there. It's also pointless to compare the 2007 Tigers to the 2003 Tigers. It's pretty obvious how sophisticated many of the offenses look, moreso than just four years ago. Truth be told, it's darn hard to stop a mobile QB all of the time, and an Arky-like scheme based on misdirection, not knowing who's getting the handoff, etc., and yes, I know that some teams were able to contain Arky, but I think in those cases, they were missing some of their key players (Monk, Jones). Anyway, just my two cents. The Arky loss still stings; I think our Tigers will bounce back and win the SEC and make us proud in the Sugar. :geauxtige
