Re: per Rival, LSU just landed a kicker Derek Helton Derek Helton, who is from Fort Scott (Kan.) Community College. Offered today by Miles and he committed on the spot per Rivals. Apparently our two kickers signed last year are not panning out, and either we have more scholarships than previously thought, or this was a really big need for us. I guess he reports next year?

I can't say I'm thrilled about a JUCO punter, as I'd much prefer to have someone already on the team that could do this, but my guess is he will take one of the kickers we signed last years scholarship & this was obviously a need. Considering that it apparently is a need, it is nice to get a guy considered to be the best JUCO punter in the country. Then again, the "guru" kicking coach Chris Sailor was also very high on our 2 guys last year...
