quick observation is that it seems like he can do OK if he has some great players (fazekas and lopez twins). can he recruit? at least he's black, but he's from berkeley???. maybe seattle. can a wine and cheese guy recruit La?
http://daily.stanford.edu/article/2006/4/19/trentJohnsonOpensUp oooooo. some of you arent gonna like this. he's super intense, yells at players and cant let a bad play go. and he blames bad seasons on injuries (at least it aint sanctions)
just looked at his classes at stanford except for the lopez twins nothing much. what struck me was that few of his recruits were from CA which i would think would be a hotbed----albeit a competitive hotbed. does have a 4 star from Austin for this year. maybe transfer? anyone know if its tougher to recruit at Stanford because of academic qualifications?
It it no different than the other Pac 10 schools. Stanford is a tough school to recruit to because they have lousy facilities and it is not a "cool" basketball school. Duke and North Carolina have cherry picked top talent from Cali lately and the other top guys generally go to Zona or UCLA. So the other part of recruiting is recognizing talent when you cant get all the top guys and he seems to be doing a decent job...although the Lopez twins were 5*s. And the man is a maniac. He sort of reminds me of John Cheney. Even looks kind of odd like the old man did.
What was Stanford's record during the previous coach's tenure? I don't think he inherited a deflated program like LSU. I wish him the best. I hope he can find a qualtiy player to replace Randolph.
