Perrilloux talks again...and again...and again.

I agree FightingTiger. Perilloux needs to shut up. Very early in college football season, I posted the same comment about Perilloux running his mouth and got flamed for it. I was referring to an Austin article in which Perilloux actually said that Texas' coaching staff had to "dumb down" the offense for Vincent Young. He also went on to say that Vincent Young was not a good passer, which is probably true, but he was calling out a future teamate at that time. This running of the mouth really bothers me. I have no problem with confidence, but Perilloux is getting ridiculous. He has not even practiced at the college level, but he can already read defenses? Right now, all Perriloux cares about is himself. This is going to cause major problems in the locker room. Miles better put an end to Perriloux's spewing fast. One more thing about confidence. Matt Mauck is a great example of confidence. He did not have top notch athletic ability, but he was confident on the field and he never bragged about it. Matt Mauck delivered LSU! a :crystal:. Perilloux has a long way to go to fill those shoes.

    LSU! :crystal: LSU!

Perrilloux's confidence doesn't bother me. What bothers me is Perrilloux's disrespect to his (future) teammates. To be honest, what he says are things that most of us thought, but that doesn't make putting them in the press acceptable. In fairness, this kid is probably being hounded by the media every single day and I wouldn't be suprised if they are prying things like this out of him that he didn't really want out in the public. That's still no excuse. LSU can't do anything until he's enrolled here - at that point, it will be time for Miles to teach him some humility & respect.

Yet once again, Perrilloux is right on with his comments. We have one of the best receiving corps in America and they spent last season being fed scraps and pieces. The kid will learn some tact and how to have more couth when he arrives in BR.

Great to see we didn't miss a day with one of these threads.

Also, I can't believe Perrilloux has aspirations of taking his skills to the NFL. Why in the hell would he want to play at the highest level and get rich? We should recruit kids who want to attend LSU because of our Ivy level academics...

    Couldn't agree more BB.

P.S. Nice picture. I got a good laugh out of that.

The kid has football smarts and I think it's awesome that he will get started early in the summer. The opportunity to work with Rohan will be great for him both athletically and personally. JaMarcus Russell is not the sharpest knife in the drawer and Perrilloux can give Matt Flynn an immediate run for his money on his athletic abilities alone.

I think that when the first game rolls around, Perrilloux will be in a great position to win the job, but ultimately, I think it will be Matt Flynn's interview savvy and his media skills that seal the deal for him. With more interview training and hard work, Perrilloux could have a shot at the #1 spot as a Sophomore - especially if Flynn or Russell have a few bad interviews...

BB: Of course we want all of our athletes to move on to the professional level after college, but that doesn't mean we want to be used as a mere springboard. I've got more respect for people like Marcus Spears who stayed for his senior year to get his degree (or atleast closer) & at the same time improve his draft stock.

And we can't say for sure that Perrilloux will "learn some tact and how to have more couth when he arrives in BR". This is the problem. We have to hope that Miles & staff can teach him these things. Plenty of athletes never learn them at the college level & become a liability in the NFL - see Randy Moss.

There's a new article about it, thus there's a new thread about it. This is a real issue & we shouldn't just ignore this stuff.

First consider who wrote the article, then "IF" he can do what he and his coach are saying he can do, then I'll forgive his ego.
As for our WR's, how many times last year did you see the receivers throw their hands up in disgust when they were wide open and JR or MR couldn't find them?
I am with the majority on dissing your future teamates, not a smart move, but we really don't know just how much these reporters ad-lib, especially Carl DuFous.

So what should we do? Shaq used LSU as a springboard and that worked out for everyone. We want kids to come to LSU, be stars, win games, and entertain us, but we also respect them less if they take their talents to the highest level and secure their futures and financial independence?

I do get it and I don't disagree with you at the core - I simply see it for what it is. It's big time athletics, big time talent, big time money, and everything else is simply filler for us to discuss on message boards.

I am over the age of 25 - make the check to cash...

If I have children one day and one of them were to act like Ryan Perrilloux I would be very upset. I was taught better and raised very well by both of my parents. With that being said, I just can't bring myself to get this worked up about an athlete who is coming to LSU to compete for an opportunity to throw a ball in front of me and 92,000 of my closest friends. The words of a 17 year old kid just don't get me in a huff...
