http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20090415/wl_nm/us_somalia_piracy_107 No one was hurt but the ship did suffer some damages! Let's see what happens now!:hihi:
my guess is you'll get another chance. these scum are also stupid and hell bent on "revenge". i'd love to see more than a few ships from several nations act as booby traps. LET the pirates board then just take all of 'em from that particular raiding party out. none of the "capture and press criminal charges" stuff. just flat out start thinning the herd.
I'm surprised at this. I would have thought they would leave US ships alone. Sounds like we need to send another message.
They straight up admitted that they'd seek revenge for the killings of their three compadres. These guys are crafty, but not smart.
yes, they did. and you KNEW they were going to seek out an american ship. one of them made the chilling statement of something like "next time we kill the hostage before they can kill us". i really believe they are looking to take an american hostage to kill as part of their revenge. i really see this escalating more and something drastic is gonna HAVE to be done now.
The pirates live in a dungheap with no laws or economy. They have nothing to lose and will not go away or be afraid of being killed by the navy. We need to convoy US shipping so that they are never without an escort. The other maritime nations can defend themselves or pay ransoms if they wish, but they cannot expect us to risk US lives and fortunes to save them. We must get aggressive about finding and sinking the mother ships, even if it means boarding a lot of fishing boats to see if they have fish or munitions aboard. But there will be no complete solution while Somalia remains lawless. It's just the kind of place where Al Qaida will start making bases if this goes on--weak government, poor economy, and muslim culture to cloak themselves. They wouldn't mind getting some ransom money either. Most of the worlds shipping is not US-flagged and even fewer are US crewed. We cannot be the world's policeman. The maritime nations must step up to the plate.
