Never thought i would ever have any reason to say this but, tonight I pray for Tulane. I havent seen pictures, but i know their main campus is in the french quarter. I keep hearing horror stories about people at the medical center desperate for help. They probably wont be playing in the superdome for a long time. the students have been evac'ed to Jackson State and Georgia Tech. the football team is somewhere in mississippi. I can barely find any info on SELU, other than that they are closed till further notice. We should all count ourselves lucky that the North Texas game was pp'ed. Can you imagine being a student at either one of these Universities? ----------------------------------------------------------------------- :crystal:Winner of 2005 Tigerforums ESPN Bracket Challenge:crystal: ldskule:Unofficial defender of Tigerforums integrityldskule:
I don't know if it is true, but, I heard that LSU will HONOR tuition paid to UNO, Tulane, Loyola, etc. if anyone wants to take classes at LSU. If this is true, it is a very classy move by LSU.
Aren't you a year early? We play 'em next year. Their main campus is Uptown near Audubon Zoo, not the quarter. I was involved in the construction of their medical center. It's sound and out of the water, one of many where people are suffering but order is being maintained with police presence. Supplies are reaching the building, so they are better off than most. They're in the same boat as the Saints, who are shopping around (Alamo Dome) & want to play at LSU's Tiger Stadium. An LSU game & Saints game in Tiger Stadium back to back would be fantastic for Louisiana, showing the spirit and resolve of our people. Tulane will have to cancel their season, play their games away, or find another home nearby as the Saints will. I have one suggestion for them. Shreveport. Probably the only time this century they'd ever get to play there. They're cleaning up now, one of the lucky ones.
My cousin is an incoming freshman this year and was supposed to start classes at Tulane this week. She had just finished moving in on Friday. She, along with her brother, my aunt, uncle, and 2 other cousins evac'd to my mom's in BR. I'm not sure what the immediate plans are for college yet - I think they plan on following up on the GA Tech offer. I do know my aunt is interested in enrolling my younger cousin into Our Lady of Mercy in BR for the time being. Tulane's main campus is actually uptown, a few miles from the French Quarter. It, and Loyola's campus seem to have been spared the worst compared to points north. Tulane Medical Center (a block north of the Superdome) is a whole other story. I'm with you...my prayers go to all of the Greenies and all of the other victims of this truly tragic catastrophe.
