Just basing this on a hunch... but Clayton will scorch Georgia for at least 2 touchdowns, and have at least 10 receptions for 150+ yards.
It could happen. The last time we played LSU we had Bruce Thornton at one corner and Decory Bryant at the other. We absolutely shut Clayton down. Now Bryant is out for his career with a neck injury. Very sad. Clayton will be able to pick on the replacement corner.
This is very possible if Mauck is accurate. If not, Mauck could be picked for a TD the other way just as easily. If Mauck throws a duck, Sean Jones will be there.
they will key on Clayton, like last game. This will open up henderson and green watch Jimbo use the Tight end more.
I agree, both teams will use their tight ends more. TE Ben Watson was injured and out during the game in BR. Watson caught a TD pass in last years SEC CG, but his blocking abilites will be very important on Saturday as well.
I just want to see Clayton get 1000 for the year (and an LSU win, of course). He only needs 40 yards for that. David Jones has really come on strong the last few weeks, and Eric Edwards has played well, also. I think it may be a mistake to double Clayton because of how well we have been able to spread the ball (exception Ole Miss).
Whatever we do---and I would like to see us go to Clayton in a number of different ways---we should start by getting Mauck into a good groove passing-wise. The sooner we can establish a mid to long-range passing game, the easier it'll be to run the ball (short pass to establish the run). Why? Elongating and stretching those gaps in the line and easing pressure in the box will help with what I think will be our most productive running plays (the draw, since LBs will be hesitant to crash the line if we're hitting passes 10-15 yds downfield) with who will certainly be our most productive RB against this kind of defense (hope you're getting your rest this week, Justin Vincent, you'll need it).
