How can it be cheating if you don't know there are rules? The gorillas were presented with a problem; get the peanut out of the puzzle. They didn't know that the scientists expected them to only use a certain method. They came up with a better one. Rather than calling them cheaters, I'd say the gorillas are smarter than the scientists.
