1. Question from a Louisville Fan...

IF Petrino is offered and accepts the LSU job, can you guys really trust him? In two years he's lied twice to the fans and the AD about talking to schools and his alleged affection for our school.

Now, I realize that UL is no LSU (but don't rat me out to my friends here!) in football, but we're not shabby. What do you all think about his credibility and how his track record at UofL will affect his acceptance or credibility in Louisiana?? What about recruits believing a word that comes out of his mouth??
  2. He wants a bigger better deal. What is the worst that can happen from a 'trust' standpoint? He excels for 5 years and then goes off to the NFL? Once a coach gets to an elite NCAA institution, it is very unlikely they make a lateral move elsewhere. We have proven we will pay our guy whatever any other college would pay. So I would say the trust factor is way overblown.

He has coached in the SEC and NFL. His big time offense has excelled wherever he went, and with the athletes here I doubt it will skip a beat. He can actually coach a little D as well, with UL ranked in the top 20. You will hear some differences, but I would be thrilled with Petrino. There is a reason ND, AU and Fla all had this guy on their radar (even though the AU jet may have flown under it).
  3. I admit, Petrino's had some shady dealings in the past, but he's not the only one, I'm sure. Other than putting huge buyout clauses in their contracts (which most coaches won't agree to anyway), what can you do? Any coach is always going to be looking for that bigger, better deal.
  4. I want a coach to stick around, but more important right that now is to have a coach that continues to build upon what Saban and his staff (with the support of others at LSU) have done over the last 5 years. Losing a good coach can be an opportunity. If we don't take advantage, bad things can happen. I don't want to see this program slip.
  5. Since we know very little about our schools intentions at this point, I won't speculate. I am alittle concerned as to wether Petrino is a good fit for our program however.
  6. It boils down to BP having no integrity. I for one do not think that a man like BP will fit well with the great fanbase at LSU. He knows football but as a speaker, or just out in the world the man has a bad personality. I think it hurts him when fans approach. I know it pi$$es him off! What ever happens is up to LSU because, well, you are LSU lol, but if he doesnt get the job which I dont think he will, I bet he leaves UofL because he isnt very welcome there now.
    Good Luck
  7. Let me get this straight. Louisville fans are mad because Petrino is thinking of leaving, so if he doesn't leave you will want him to leave because you didn't want him to leave?
  8. No, I see what you mean but no. All we want at the very least is the truth. We tried to forget about his lieing during the auburn fiasco, but there is no end to it. I am not mad that he is leaving for LSU, "now if it was UK I would be" its how he does it. I dont blame him for considering the job. He!!, I would too but you can bet the house I wouldnt lie, sneak and slither around about it. He is a PR nightmare folks and yes he knows offense. Good lord does he know offense.
    Im in steppin stone hell.

  9. Put more money into your football team, facilities, coaching... win ball games consistently and you will no longer be a stepping stone. UofL is such a BB school that you guys havent really given a sh t about football until recently.
  10. not saying it is right but all coaches do what Petrino did. He just happened to get busted. All coaches say one thing and do another that is the world we live in now. I don't begrudge him for that. I still don't think he is the answer but not because of that. I would rather give Jimbo the job over him. I really think Delrio could be very good.
