http://lsu.rivals.com/croster.asp On your spring roster, there is a designation under a player's experience that reads "SQ". Perrilloux, for example, is SQ. What does SQ stand for... is it practice squad... or what? Thanks!!!
I think it basically means that they haven't earned a varsity letter yet. For the longest time, I thought it meant that the person was a walk on. We all know that is not the case with Perriloux.
Experince is usually listed as : HS - high school experience Sq - experience on the Tiger squad (not enough PT to letter, anybody who redshirts) 1VL - One varsity letter (and so forth)
Traditionally, there are Lettermen, and there are Squadmen (Those who are team members who did not letter). I personnally hate to use this reference, but USC uses the term to this date. I remember getting a squadmen certificate at the athletics banquet during my freshman hear of HS. I managed to letter after that.
