watch the 3 throws Randall had to put in such a small window on that opening drive. 6 inches either way, its a pick. He was feeling it....something you have to recognize as a coach. Once again, and I am assuming....this prescripted BS almost cost us the first game by not adjusting to the weather and still ran the prescripted plays and.... This time it did cost us by sticking to the script yet again since they were hellbent on getting JR's feet wet on the road. they did yet it bit us in the ass I do believe. All momentum was ours and we threw it away. Very possible MR plays lights out if they let him roll on (and out). We still had the lead yet seemed quite comfy running clock with plays up the gut with 12 mins left. I would liked to have seen running plays to the outside and some option with Randall to open up the overstacked middle yet we ran the play action draw and the back seemed to be in his way instead of open field to the outside. Far too much congestion. Blocking wasnt terrible but they need to play as a unit. Its a must. Hell, the naked boot would have been effective like AU runs with JC but it seems they dont put MR in enough space. JR's attempt to run was pretty bad. those long legs just couldnt get stepping. Another thing....(im rambling as it plays through my feeble mind), we have to get our young studs involved a lot more otherwise they will not get acclimated to catching the ball. We run, run, run then when they finally get a ball they are like middle infielders with a slow-working pitcher. They arent into the game so the drops will continue. They need gametime reps and that pigskin hitting their hands whether screens or reverses or whatever so it becomes second nature. We arent getting the ball to them near enough. We have 5 star studs all over. Let's use em. Speaking of studs, WTF is Xavier Carter doing during the returns? Was he daydreaming or simply waiting 20 seconds for blocks to develop. Even during the reverse he was caught. He is FRESH so I guess he was thinking and not reacting. Why is he wearing #23 or am I blind? Not gonna mention special teams... stevie wonder saw that entire abortion. many things to point to in this game and tons to correct but oddly enough I felt better after this loss than any in recent memory since i could see this team coming together before my eyes. I saw them playing hard as a team not as an I. I saw our defense contain 2 of the best players they will face all year on any team. These 2 guys are studs to the nth degree and to hold them to 10 points with such a new defense is amazing. Mel Kiper has Caddy as the 1st pick in next yrs draft and Ronnie Brown 10th. amazing. Our D bent but didnt break. they will gel sooner than later. Will Kyle Williams again not get a gameball? Or am I simply seeing him make every play cuz hes white and stands out? :thumb: :thumb: Make no mistake, AU won the game. Jason Campbell made 3 huge plays on that last drive...this kid catches as much hell from his fans as MR or Jamie Howard has from ours. Congrats to this kid and to all the people who said he could never make a play to win a game or beat a good team, well he did so give the kid his props. let that be a lessen to never give up on our players. they can develop regardless what we think we know about their skills and/or mental toughness. AU may have a special season and make it to a New Years Day bowl. We will look back on this game as a simple learning step along the way into greatness. All teams take their lumps and we all learn more through adversity than through success. LSU is a better team top to bottom yet it will take repetitions before that team develops. These guys are winners. You can see it, you can sense it. I'm thrilled. I cannot wait til the next game as i watch steve van buren on the nfl network while typing this. Im watching Dominick Davis get the first of many LSU NFL rookie of the year awards. I'm thrilled because I know in 30 years Ill have kids watching those old analogue replays of Early Doucet destroying secondaries while during the commercials they'll be looking at my old Jamarcus Russell Rookie Cards worth a grand each and on those cards you can see listed, a handful of LSU's National Titles. Yes, Life is good. carry on.
Excellent Post. I also hope that we learn from this game instead of assuming that we won it if it weren't for the calls...we're better than that. Unfortunately some take solace in "what if"....whats done is done and we still have 9 games ahead of us that can be won and will be won. I dont care if AU is in control of West now, they're good for two losses hopefully. :geaux:
