Reason Del Rio no-showed for the interview Friday

his boss did not know he was going to interview, or that LSU had contacted him about the opening. Per the article, this may land Del Rio on the hot seat in Jax.

Here is what happen to Del Rio

Well I am back to eat my Crow Burger. Remember I was one of the first post who said the next coach was going to be JDR. Well my source call me on the day he heard that LSU offical where suppose to be on there way to meet with JDR. Well for some reason JDR back OUT.Sounds like he keep it seceret not letting the Jags owner know about the LSU job. My source is someone in the athletic office and call me as soon as he found out about the trip to meet with JDR. I trust my source, and wanted the let my LSU friends know the good news about maybe getting JDR.Well go ahead and bash me, I can live with it. BTW here is a link from espn on the JDR Story.

So if Del Rio would of interviewed then, you think we would be naming Miles our coach right now?

 

It is kinda disappointing to read that article. It makes me think that there was just a misunderstanding.... that if he had known about an interview, he would have been interested and surely met with them....

Miles will be our coach and he deserves our support, but I just can't help but think that perhaps things were just a bit too hurried now. We may have missed out on a great young coach.

 

I think everyone at this point is second guessing Skip and the BOS decision to hire Miles... I will hope for the best... but expect the worst.

 

I would not be too disappointed. This is the reason coaches have agents, and I would imagine Skip had a pretty good idea on if Del Rio truly was interested. I think 'the rest of the story' has yet to be reported.

 

I was wondering what the hell that was about. Too bad.
If he was really interested seemed like he would have moved forward with the interview but who really knows

 

When it comes to hiring a NFL coach without the college experience, I worry about their recruiting abilities. I would love to have seen Del Rio hired though nonetheless. There is a lot of upside to Miles though and a lot to look forward to.

I'd imagine you are right too in that there rest of the story has yet to come out. For all we know he simply had a change of heart and is trying to deny it to save face and save his current job.
