Reflecting on the past year...

Swerved It appears my hypocrisy knows no bounds.

I came to work this morning and when I sat down at my desk, I took a good hard look at the 2003 National Championship wallpaper I made for my computer last year at this time. It made me remember how "on-top of the world" I felt last year when bowl season was over. The buzz on this forum was unbelievable and we were all on cloud nine.

Now I look at the forum and see nothing but uncertainty amongst most of the users. I see people questioning LSU hiring coach Miles. I see people expressing negativeness about the years to come for LSU football.... My my, what a difference a year has made. Here's a few things that have not and will never change, however....

    • I've been an LSU faithful for as long as I can remember, as I will always be.
    • Everytime I see the colors purple and gold I think about our Tigers and the intense energy at Death Valley on saturday nights from September to November.
    • Everytime I think about the pregame ceremonies I get an adrenaline rush and chill-bumps.
    • Evertime I am asked by someone, "Who's your team?" I reply with "LSU" and they can see how proud I am to say that.
    • Everytime I drive on campus to go work on some lab instruments, I always drive by the stadium and look in awe at all of it's magesty.
    • And lastly, everytime I go to a game at Death Valley, I feel 10 feet tall and bullet proof because I know I've got about 92,000 of my favorite people there with me.

This isn't just a football team, it's OUR football team.
This isn't just a university, it's OUR university.
This isn't just a stadium we call home, it's DEATH VALLEY.
This isn't just our pride... This is TIGER pride.

Please guys, give Miles a chance. Need we be reminded again that most of us weren't all that hyped up about Saban coming here 5 years ago? Whether Miles is the right or wrong coach for us remains to be seen, but I know this.... He will have a much easier job if we're all behind him 100%....

    Geaux Tigers!!
    Welcome Coach Miles!!

I think Coach Miles will do just fine, in fact looking forward to big things from our offense next year. GEAUX TIGERS!

I think I may have shed a tear reading that post, Swerved! Of course, I'm 8 months pregnant and super-hormonal, but regardless...

You said it all. I was thinking just last night about what a difference a year makes in our football fortunes, but I'm still incredibly proud to declare to whomever wants to listen that I'M A TIGER!

I'm most eager to see how Les approaches the QB situation.

From the first game of 2004 to the last, Nick Saban struggled greatly to best handle that situation, sometimes succeeding, sometimes failing.

Of course, injecting RP into the situation may change things a bit, but I think we all can agree that playing musical chairs at the QB position is not the long-term solution. Trying to play the "hot hand" at QB arguably cost LSU a win on Saturday.

It most certainly cost Mack Brown a shot at a national title in 2001, too.

PS-Speaking of coming to work, I still have the 2004 football schedule poster put out by the SID staring me in the face all day long. You know, the one with Nick holding the crystal football and all.

Always brings a smile to my face, even some 12 months after the fact.

Great post, Swerved, and congratulations Stacey, would that be a little Tiger or little Golden Girl?

I'm a Hawkeye and reading that literally gave me goosebumps... THAT attitude is what makes CFB so special... and different... from the NFL.

That attitude is also what I saw primarily displayed in Orlando by your fans... a FANTASTIC group of fans with tremendous pride in their program...

The most eloquent post of the day. I got "goose-bumps" the second time I read it. :thumb:

StaceyO is expecting a second little Golden Girl, but my three-year-old daughter is more partial to the cheerleaders (and she's already in gymnastics up here in Plano).
