We won't need him for South Carolina either. We surely won't need him for Tulane. That gives him 3 weeks to get healed properly. If he can play in the Tulane game for a few series, so be it, just to get him sharp for Florida. Our defense will step up big time and shut down the SC offense. We won't need much more than 17 pts to win. The running game alone will produce that. Perrilloux just has to "manage" the game. We need Flynn for Florida.
I sort of agree with you...I would say definately rest him for the MT game...Perilloux should be able to handle it. Maybe he could just give em a good start against the Cocks and then put Perilloux in.
Hopefully he's be back for the South Carolina game. That will be a tougher game than some fans realize. His staying out for three games could also hurt him in the draft.
We cannot afford to lose Flynn's running ability. It's part of what makes him dangerous. This injury needs to completely heal. So getting "moral" victories with him showing up as a starter and his stock in the draft really seem ludicrous compared to the damage it may do long term to this team's chances at playing for the NC and a possible undefeated season. On the flipside I see this as a blessing in disguise as we get to see Perrilloux run the offense for an entire game. All the more confidence for Ryan heading into next season, when he will be leading an LSU team trying to repeat as national champs.
i appreciate your comment and agree that putting him at unnecessary risk is unwise. yes, he is crucial to our future. we don't want to be without him any longer than necessary. when i said "if he can", i meant if it is reasonably safe for him to do so. if he can take a few snaps to get the game rolling then take the bench then he should. if not, then he shouldn't. and for the record, i wasn't saying give him the start for "'moral' victories" or for his "stock in the draft". i was saying give him the start because he deserves it as a personal victory. he played second fiddle ever so patiently for a very long time. he showed us a bit of what he's made of on the field against VT and proved he is worthy of the position. i personally just think it would be a nice mark for MF if he is logged as starter for every game. i am confident that CLM would not do anything to purposely risk any of these guys any more than the nature of the game requires. CLM and MF will make the right decision about MF.
My comments were directed at Luv4LSU and BengalBuddy's posts. Not sure why you thought they were aimed at you TigerDro, that's pretty bizarre.
I agree rest him. But at the same time he still needs some experience. Though I think a healthy Flynn is more important.
