I worked in a family owned restaurant in high school and it was a great experience. I worked briefly in a restaurant chain during college (Ruby Tuesday near I10 when it opened) and it felt overly fake, corporate, etc. Other examples that come to mind are the restaurant in Office Space (that Jennifer Anniston worked at) and that movie with Dane Cook as a cook. Chains that come to mind in the real world are Chili's and TGI Friday's. What are some of the worst as far as personality go? Are there some people that prefer the fake (but friendly) attitudes of wait staff? It just seems like they could tone it down a little. Some of the workers are probably fine outside of work but it feels like the entire chain culture filters down. Maybe I'm just biased b/c of the Ruby Tuesday exerience.
