Dandy Don indicated that RJF is not expected to play this season. So I guess we get a dose of good news (Perrilloux) followed by a dose of bad news.
tigerbait.com had an article last week that gave a little more info. Since this is a publicly available article hosted via Yahoo’s contract with Rivals, I don’t see a problem with paraphrasing the info – LINK Speaking at a media conference two weeks ago, Miles said that there was no new information on the status of Jean-Francois. He participated in spring practice, but Miles continued to say that there was no final word on his status for the upcoming football season. SID Bonnette confirmed that Jean-Francois' situation is currently under appeal. Jean-Francois has been charged with an academic indiscretion during the 2006 fall semester. The appeals process can include multiple stages and can be lengthy. To me it sounds like he was caught doing something that was considered academically unethical. Maybe it will be overturned, maybe it won’t. If the kid just made that one mistake and keeps his nose clean, I hope that at worst he stays with the program and gets to play next season…
Cheating, and would be ineligible the fall semester unless he wins his appeal (I'd say about a 25% chance).
I was a student member on a committee that heard student conduct issues when I was at LSU. Cheaters always got slapped very hard. I remember a graduate student that was found guilty of plagiarism. He plagiarized from a book written by the professor who was teaching the class. What an idiot.
I don't think idiot is a strong enough word in this case. What the hell was he thinking?
The professor testified at the hearing. She basically said she was astounded when she read the paper to find her own words being represented as the student's. It was a fairly lengthy paper and the student had about four footnotes. By the way, we also found of guilty of being stupid.
Well I guess it's not all bad news. He would be good to have to mentor the younger DLinemen. Hopefully this thing clears up and there was no wrongdoing.
