Just saw something in this morning's Advocate about how a couple of Vol players were busted by the NCAA for getting some kind of a sweetheart deal from a furniture store. Of course, that's not even a blip on the radar for Phat Phil's gangstas...the article says that the players aren't expected to miss any playing time over the incident.

I think the national press is getting carried away with some of these stories.

One of the citations were for "following another vehicle too closely" and the other was for "sound ordinance violation". Granted, both of these players already had previous traffic citations this year and had been warned by Fulmer, but I think it's a little ridiculous when a football players minor traffic ticket for having his stereo turned up too loud becomes a national news story.

The only thing getting carried away are your players to jail.

LSU players don't ever get traffic tickets?

They weren't "Busted" by the NCAA; they were reported to the NCAA by Fulmer when he found out they had accepted a discount on furniture (in violation of NCAA guidelines) from the store after the apartment building they were living in burnt down.

When we have 12+ of them in one off-season, let me know.

Some of the earlier problems were much more serious than traffic tickets; including a couple of assault cases, public drunkeness, discharging a gun within the city limits and a shoplifting case and these rightfully deserved press attention. But many of the recent articles have been about very minor traffic infractions which probably don't even belong in the local paper much less on ESPN.

It wouldn't shock me if LSU or any SEC football team collected a dozen traffic tickets in a year. I am sure any group of 100 young men is bound to get several traffic tickets over a years time, unless the local police turn a blind eye towards the local football stars.

Tennessee has had more than their share of troubles this year, but you have to be just as suspicious of a school which never reports any problems even minor ones among their football players, because we all know that's not realistic either.

I am not suspicious at all. I think you are just trying to play off your ridiculous troubles and laughable-punishment coach.

Please don't try and tell me that LSU is now "covering up" players troubles because we don't have half the problems your convicts are getting into.
