The Detroit Lions have signed center Rudy Niswanger, who had some starting experience with the Kansas City Chiefs. Niswanger, who can play multiple positions, will compete with Dylan Gandy, Greg Niland and Dan Gerberry for a backup role. The Lions wanted Donald Thomas to get more work at guard in training camp, but he's been forced to play tackle because of all the injuries at that position.
