At least they should be. Should Ohio State win and Rutgers win out, Rutgers will stand a good chance to finish #1 in many of the computer polls. They need all the help they can get to try and pass up these 1 loss teams in the BCS. A Michigan win and Rutgers will stay at #2 in the computer polls. In the end, I think USC has to lose a game. But should Notre Dame beat USC, I think Rutgers can get close enough to Notre Dame in the human polls that they finish ahead of ND for the #2 spot in the BCS (this assumes losses by USC, Florida and Arkansas).
Could you explain that please. If OSU beats the #2 team, how could Rutgers pass them in the computer polls. OSU's BCS rating would get stronger with a win over Michigan.
Yeah that's why I said they will win "many" of the computer polls (e.g., 3 or 4 out of 6). Obviously WVU cannot stub their toe and must keep winning for Rutgers best chances (in both human and computer polls). OSU has been hurt by an semi-weak SOS (#44 I think). And Rutgers is somewhere around 50. I just looked at Rutgers upcoming schedule, and I see that they will be hurt big time with playing a 5-5 Cincy, and then a 3-7 Syracuse team. And obviously WVU won't quite equal Michigan as an opponent. So I would have to think that OSU's win over Michigan will be enough to catipult them into first in almost every computer poll.
Hahahaha...wait, I like soccer. No, it makes me want to watch the NFL where there are no computers involved. And most importantly...NO NCAA!!!
Funny thing is that the computer polls represent the positive aspect of the BCS. It's the human pollsters controlling 2/3 of the BCS score I have a beef with.
You can still watch NCAA, you just have to switch down to 1-AA. This would include McNeese State and the likes.
The computers take the bias out of the voting which is good. Problem is there is no way you can have a computer look at all of the factors to really make a clear determination of who the best team is. I think it's made completely clear in this case because there is no way that Rutgers is the best or second best team in the country. I know all the arguments...they took care of business on the field, it's not there fault they didn't play anyone, the teams they played had winning records (because they play BS schedules too) None of these factors proves the Rutgers is better then every team in the country. That's what the ranking means - that you are a better team than everyone below you. A team should not be ranked because they "deserve" to be because they did everything in your control. I'm not saying it's far, it's just how it is. Obviously a play-off would solve this but that's an other issue
