1. IF THE RUMORS ARE TRUE, which they may not be, Saban is worth every penny. He has 2 of the last 3 SEC Championships, a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP, and 2 or 3 #1 recruiting classes. Many of you do not remember what LSU was before Saban and what LSU will probably become after Saban leaves. Many of you people look thru purple glasses... LSU is not the greatest job in college football, much less better than many NFL jobs. The argument about LSU spending too much money which could go to faculty or school related matters is ludicrous. I would be willing to bet that LSU IS NOT FOOTING THE BILL! I am sure that TAF is footing the bill for the pay increase. When I donate to TAF, I want my money going to athletic programs not to increase the pay of a biology professor. I also donate to the Alumni fund and that is for increasing the pay of professors and research, not athletics. Please get a clue about how things work.
  2. I give to TAF.

I agree. I give to TAF. If Nick stays, I will double my donation to $200.00 to help pay for Nick.
  3. Just my opinion on Saban

Your opinion and mine differ. Like I said in the other thread, Nick did not put LSU on the map; LSU put Nick on the map. He is a great coach, no doubt, but worth a TON of money, and your willing to put the cash up. Where does it end?

LSU will go on without Nick. By the way, TAF members, what was wrong with Nick’s prior house to the one on Highlands Road? The guy seems to demand and the organization jumps to make him happy. Like I said, when does it end?

    :eek:ldskule:
  4. When Nick quits winning championships. I don't want to settle for mediocricy (sp?) and obviously TAF doesn't either. LSU is here to compete, on every level - athletics & education. We pay the most to keep the best.

True, LSU gave Nick the opportunity to prove himself and put himself on the map, but Nick did the same thing for us considering what we were before him.

If he leaves, there's no guarantee that we get a good coach in his stead. As much as I love LSU, I'm not ignorant enough to believe that every coach at any level's dream is to coach at LSU.
  5. Still my opinion

Think about what you just said. Nick did a wonderful job, no doubt. Keep in mind, LSU had a history and tradition way before Saban came to Red Stick. It was a sleeping giant waiting to be awakened! :eek:ldskule:

Trust me, the football program will go on without him, I am willing to bet if Saban does leave (imho, he is going to, waiting to tell the team) we will have all kinds of coaches showing interest. The program is in great shape, recruiting base, and fans. Let’s not get carried away of a coach who we think is the only one who can guide this “ship”.

Look at UK, Pitino left, Tubby has steered to NC and SEC championships, Davis left, Cooker has won, and I could go on and on.

Like I said, when does it end? Nick has asked a lot from LSU and the community, and we have given. It just seems it is not good enough!

  6. Saban is a great coach but you can have another great coach for half the price of 4 million. How many college coaches make 2 million? Not many.
  7. Coach demands

I am willing to go out on a limb and say if you put the likes of Tedford and Petrino in this program, would they have the same success? My answer would be yes. It’s the program and the recruiting base. That is where Archer and Hallman went wrong, they got greedy and thought they could get talent in Texas and Florida leaving all the talent in-state to bolt to the likes of FSU, Bama, and even UF. DiNardo started to get it right but let the Cecil “the diesel” situation get out of control and he lost control and respect of his players.

Top notch coaches would crawl to Baton Rouge for the opportunity. I just think it is ridiculous that the Saban say jump to the TAF, they say “how high coach? Like I said, any high member TAF member, what was wrong with his house prior to the one were they preside at the moment. The TAF high ranking members will know what I am talking about? Got It? He seems to demand, we give and demand more. Granted the facilities needed it, but sometimes it is way too much. Louisiana has financial difficulties and a downfall in the state budget. LSU can not afford to support staff but willing to cough up cash for the football program.

Wonder why Tiger Stadium gets upgrades and the PMAC sets next door and is falling apart. Please, that so called “face lift” is like putting make-up on a pig! And the fans wonder why the basketball program never gets any support. :dis:
  8. I challenge you to name 1! I am not being an ass, but none of us can name a coach that is as good as Saban who would come to LSU for less than 2.5 -3 million.
  9. Well Med

I assume you are residency in New Orleans for your training? I applaud you. What will be your specialty and what year are you? I sure we can have a conversation outside the athletic realm! :thumb:

Several coaches come to mind, Petrino would jump, NO, would crawl on his hands and knees. You guys are willing to give Saban Bill Parcell type of money, are you going to tell me that Saban is as good as ‘old Bill. Surely you are not going to suggest he is better than ‘old Steve. After all, USC not paying outrageous money for him to coach in Columbia, I mean we are talking about Columbia!!!

Like I have said, Nick seems to demand, and we seem to jump, enough is enough. He brought this all on to himself. If you keep on calling “wolf”, no one is going to listen. Got It?

By the way, I like this Got It? , Got It?
  10. Sorry, but I live in Miami and the Miami Herald is not a reliable source at all.
