Does anyone else not see the weakness of having two QBs, and not having that team leader that Matt Mauck filled last season. Most people say that having two QBs is almost tantamount to having none. How do you guys feel about the dual QB situation? Should Russell get the starting position with his experience to date, or should Saban start the more experienced Randall?
I just believe that from what I have seen thus far, JaMarcus should get the start in every game, maybe bring in Marcus Randall for fakes and QB sneaks, but JaMarcus has better pocket poise, a good arm, and does not get shakin up, whereas Randall has shown that any pressure and he will just make dumb throws Although I agree that whatever Saban does is 99.9999% right I dont see this as the best decision
IMO Saban will go with the two QB's as long as it is working or until someone seperates himself from the other. As long as it is working the team is actually better off having two ready to go, it's just it doesn't work more times than it does. No doubt Saban would rather have one QB so good that there would be no descision to make but we are not there at this time. I think this could work very well. If one is having a bad day maybe the other may do better. If one gets a hot hand you stick with him longer. Both still have much to prove but may both be capable.
I understand the positives of having two but I still believe if one is having trouble, especially Russell, you keep him in for confidence. Randall lost his confidence long ago, and I believe that he should ride the bench back up. It's time for Russell to have his shot, and I believe that Russell is heads up the best call, but I think Saban doesnt want to "hurt" Randall feelings. Saban said that he had Randall mother calling him crying because she had seen how the media and alum were reacting to her son. I believe that Russell should play every minute of every game from here on out. We need to treat him like Florida treated Chris Leak last year. He needs to learn from the school of hard knocks, he needs to get hit and understand SEC road games. He seems like a clutch QB and I believe that he is without a doubt better than Randall. Even his stats in the ASU game were mindblowing compared with Randall.
I apologize boring you with my "new to the board" post. I just feel it is the biggest issue and feel that Saban is doing the "wrong" thing. But of course thats why I am not the coach of a national championship program and Nick is.
It has nothing to do with you. Well, actually, maybe it does. It was actually easier to read this type of post at first because you were questioning Saban and not focusing so much on comparing the quarterbacks. Now though, your true intentions started to come out and the quarterback comparisons are flowing. Now it's just another tiring qb thread. So.... Y~A~W~N
So you're telling me that if JaMarcus Russell had gotten the start against OSU that game wouldnt have been different?
I wouldn't have a problem if Saban played Randall... just dont switch up. Name a leader and get it over with. Thats all I'm saying. And in addition, being new to the board, I didn't realize the QB situation had been run into the ground. I'll attempt to come up with a better topic next time.
