This is the Saints 43rd season. Here are their season records and number of times they've had each one.

    12-3 (1)
    12-4 (1)
    11-5 (1)
    10-6 (3)
    9-7 (2)
    8-8 (7)
    4-5 (1)
    7-9 (7)
    6-10 (2)
    5-9 (3)
    5-11 (1)
    4-8-2 (1)
    4-9-1 (1)
    4-10 (1)
    4-12 (1)
    3-11 (2)
    3-13 (3)
    2-11-1 (2)
    2-12 (1)
    1-15 (1)

This is already one of the top season records ever and we still have six games to go. I guess that says two things: 1) the Saints are having a great year; and 2) they haven't had many prior to this season.

We're one win away from setting a new record for most victories in a regular season...and a tie for the most wins ever in a season. (regular & post)

That was the strike-shortened season. I think it was 1987. If I recall correctly, the Saints finished with the second best overall record but unfortunately the 49ers were 13-2 although we split with them that year.

We had to settle for a wildcard game even though we were on a long winning streak. I want to say Eric Martin scored to give the Saints a 7-0 lead in their first-ever playoff game but after that it got ugly. I believe the Vikings even attempted a Hail Mary before halftime and scored. It was sad.

All three losses were close so there was great confidence that we would finally win a playoff game.

The Vikings then upset the 49ers before losing to the Redskins who eventually won the Super Bowl.

The Saints may have been the best team that year but couldn't break the curse.

I'm not sure what we'll do in April as we usually don't have to wait long before our first draft pick. Thankfully we'll be waiting several hours this year.

All the losing seasons and "almost" seasons are making this year even more special. This has already become our greatest season to date. A Super Bowl win would make it the greatest ever. Even an undefeated 19-0 in the future wouldn't surpass this year if we can win it all!

Hey Buddy D...pull a few more strings! Saintslogo
