We are in the same boat boat with that thought. I saw a few complaining about you having a bye week before our game. I thought the notion/thought was ludicrous considering we have a bye before your game also.
Terry, I thought it was odd that LSU, Arkansas, Auburn, and MSU (4 SEC Teams) all had a bye week before playing Bama. As a Bama fan, that would concern me. An extra week to rest, gameplan, etc.... Coincidence? or Conspiracy? You're welcome. :thumb:
Wow, I didnt realize that. That wouldnt bold well for any team, especially down the stretch. However, Bama might be able to catch MSU or Arky sleeping with that week off. Good catch tiga.:thumb:
Even if you didn't have a bye before you played us...why complain? Obviously, you didn't, but I don't understand the people that would complain when the schools don't set the schedules, the conference does. At the same time, I'm glad both teams have a bye. It should make the game that much better with equally well-rested players.
If you look around, you'll find a lot of Bama fans that would like to think it is a conspiracy. The off week is something that the school, while it doesn't have the final say so, does have some input in. This is the first year in a long, long time UT hasn't had an off-week before playing Alabama. It's one of those situations...you know, 6 of one, half a dozen of another? I've seen cases where time and time again teams that have an off week end up coming out flat when they return to their schedule. I like our off-week where it falls. It's a good chance to get rested up for the "end season run." When, we get back to that point, I might add. :thumb: The stretch I see that will be the most difficult is from the Arkansas game through the FSU game. (FWIW, I don't think Houston is a push over. If Shula would have been retained I'd be likely to say we have a good chance of losing that one.) Art Briles, who was recently named coach of the year for Div. 1-A is one of the brightest up and comers in the coaching ranks right now. I've been VERY impressed with him. He's a guy you'll see at a major Div. 1 school in the next few years.
there's quite few bammers that are all worked up about this fact over on their forums... yes, everyone is out to get Bama. these things happen, I wasn't too happy about 4 road games against top8 teams this past season but you play the schedule you get, no excuses. If anyone is to blame it's their own AD. College scheduling is so different from anything else. You got each team going out and basically making their own schedules with many opponents nearly a decade before they take the field and then you also get those situations where some last minute cancellation or postponement forces you to rework part of your schedule on short notice. You never know where an opponent is going to be 2 years down the road much less 7-10 years.
