Report: SEC rejects WVU application for membership | CollegeFootballTalk Word is that the ACC did too. Their academics aren't good enough for the ACC and they don't bring enough money for the SEC.
Not surprising. Selfishly, I wouldn't mind if WVU joined the SEC, as it would be in driving distance for me to see SEC games.
Absolutely this makes total sense. WVU doesn't add academics and IIRC even their football program operates at a loss. No TV market, no alumni base, no stellar facilities / recruiting base, heck no profit even for themselves. If the SEC grabs WVU it will be a last ditch effort and a late grab because we couldn't make a deal work with a bigger fish.
No $hid, huh ... Oregon and their shenanigans ... MSU gives 'em a day off and teaches 'em cowbell strategy during pep ralley ... SEC (Alabama biased in B-Ham) announces this with the WV game on the horizon ... Screwing with us next week and sticking the Kentucky game at 11 AM ... Florida game next ... makes you wonder WTF is coming WHAT'S NEXT ... Are they gonna supply and "dope up" an entire fanbase and blow horns and bugles ... Ain't nobody gonna stop these LSU Tigers in 2011 ... we're on a GD mission! :crystal:
The math that I saw said that in order for a school to not negatively effect the income of present SEC schools, it must bring in a revenue of at least $21 million for the conference. WVU does not bring this. aTm, with its large market, does. Georgia Tech would... Some other ACC schools would.
For the record this website is basically TMZ for college football. I wouldnt put much stock into anything these guys post. I am not saying it is not true I have no idea. But I would take anything you read on this as a huge grain of salt.
