In week five the conference tendencies are starting to take form. LSU Offense is still declining. Defense remains strong. Special teams slipped a bit. Intangibles are strong.

    Total Offense = Auburn #1 . . . LSU #11 for the 2nd week
    Scoring Offense = Alabama #1 . . . LSU # 11 (down from #9)
    Passing Offense = Arkansas #1 . . . LSU #12 for the 5th straight week . . .
    Rushing Offense = Auburn #1 . . . LSU #4 (up from #5)

Total Defense = LSU #1 for the 2nd week
    Scoring Defense = Alabama #1 . . . LSU # 2 for the 3rd week
    Passing Defense = Kentucky #1 . . . LSU #3 (up from #4)
    Rushing Defense = LSU #1 . . . for the 2nd week

    Punt Returns = Ole Miss #1. . . LSU #2 (down from #1)
    Kick Returns = Alabama #1 . . . LSU #4 (down from #3)
    Punt defense = State #1 . . . LSU #8 (down from #5)
    Kick defense = Georgia #1 . . . LSU #3 (down from #1)

    Fumbles Lost = Kentucky #1 . . . LSU #11
    Fumbles recovered = Auburn #1 . . . LSU #3 (down from #1)
    Sacks =Arkansas #1 . . . LSU #2 for the 2nd week
    Tackles for Loss = Auburn #1 . . . LSU #2 for the 2nd week
    Turnover margin = Alabama #1 . . . LSU #9 (down from #4)

We are still only an offense away from true contention in this league.

Great work Red. Those numbers really bear out the frustration Tiger fans are feeling about this team. Anyone who follows LSU even a little bit knows that the offensive performance is unacceptable given the pay grade of the coaches and the talent they have to work with.

Whether this offense can improve to the level of the defense and do just enough to compete for the SEC West title or more remains to be seen.

Nationally, we are 91st in total offense & 83rd in scoring offense.

Defensively, we are 6th in total defense & 5th in scoring defense.
