    Not surprising...they have to try to make their bowl look important. The Rose Bowl was dead for 20+ years until the BCS rotation took effect. The Sugar and Orange dominated the championship picture and then the Fiesta grew into a top bowl as well. The only thing going for the Rose was the parade and ABC touting them as the Granddaddy of bowls.

    The people in California don't want to hear it but it was the Pac-10 that dragged the bowl down. With the exception of USC over the last few years, there really aren't any Top 10 programs on the west coast. With 30,000,000 people in CA, you would think they would have several other top teams.

    Stanford?, Cal?, UCLA?, San Diego State?, San Jose State?, Fresno State?...not much after USC

    The Big 10 has been the stronger of the two conferences during that time.
