BATON ROUGE - The LSU baseball team will try to keep its recent winning ways going tonight when it hosts Northwestern State at 6:30 p.m. at Alex Box Stadium. The Tigers (14-7, 2-4 Southeastern Conference) have won three of their last four games after losing five in a row. LSU is coming off a 4-2 win over Arkansas Sunday that followed an emotional 14-13 loss to the Razorbacks on Saturday in 10 innings. The Tigers had led 9-0 early on. "Our kids did not hang their heads," said LSU coach Paul Mainieri, who was upset with the Saturday loss but promised a win on Sunday during his pre-game radio interview. "They came back and played a solid game." LSU took the series two games to one. The Tigers won 8-7 Friday night in 11 innings. LSU broke its five-game losing streak with a win over Tulane last Wednesday. Northwestern State (13-8, 5-1 Southland Conference) has lost eight straight games to LSU. The Demons' last win was 10-8 in Natchitoches in 2001. "We're looking forward to playing at the Box," NSU coach J.P. Davis said. "It's going to be a good atmosphere for our guys to experience." Mainieri will start junior right-hander Louis Coleman (0-0, 0.00 ERA), who has only pitched 1.2 innings this season in two appearances. Senior right-hander Ryan Campbell (0-2, 7.94 ERA) will start for the Demons. Matt Clark leads LSU's offense with a .370 batting average, 23 RBIs and 10 home runs. LSU has a busy week. It hosts the University of New Orleans on Wednesday night at 6:30 before traveling to Florida for a three-game series over the weekend. Link To Original Article
