I apologize if it has already been posted, but seems like he is getting recognized nationally, hopefully he continues to do what he does, and people remember charles woodson, and realize how rare he really is. Tyrann Mathieu could make strong case for defender Heisman winner - Cory McCartney - SI.com
Herbie said today that based on the first five weeks, TM is number 1 on his Heisman list. While odds are against him winning, esp with Russell Wilson and Robert Griffin putting up gaudy numbers, it's nice to see any defensive player, but esp TM7, get the props he deserves.
He probably won't get the Hesiman. But he's a lock for the Thorpe award if he keeps playing like this.
The South Carolina DE Melvin Ingram is trying to get into the picture for the defensive player of the year (Chuck Bednarik Award) along with TM7. The Jared Crick dude from Nebraska probably took himself out when his team's defense was embarrassed by Wisconsin last week. Ingram has disrupted offenses in much the same manner as TM7. "The redshirt senior recorded 11 tackles, including 4.5 for loss and recorded a career-best three sacks in the loss to the Tigers. In addition, Ingram had an interception on a fake field goal and two quarterback hurries. For the season, Ingram is now the SEC leader in sacks with 5.5 and tackles for loss at 7.5." He also has 2 interceptions. Richmond County Daily Journal - Ingram earns SEC honor again
If South Carolina loses a couple more games, Ingram will be out of the picture. This is the benefit of LSU having numerous high profile games where our players get hyped up
Dude has like 3 TDs as well, it's unbelievable. I think Mathieu's production is much more sustainable given is position, though.
