As much talent as he has, he simply wasn't a team player. By that I mean if you know all of your teammates are required to go to class because they probably aren't going to play in the NBA, be a leader and set an example. Hell, you don't even need to pass, just show up to avoid internal conflicts within the team. I thought all along Quarterman was the problem, it appears that some of that blame was misplaced. Ben Simmons admitted he didn’t attend classes at LSU. Why should he? http://www.libertyballers.com/2016/10/20/13347848/ben-simmons-class-attendance-lsu-one-and-done-nba
Well, no one can ever accuse Ben Simmons of being intellectually curious. That's a shame, money will not fill an empty noggin.
This is why the 1 year of college thing needs to be reevaluated. Shame on Jones for even recruiting this punk.
Athletes can go 3-4 yrs and skate the entire way. He has plenty company. This isn't an isolated case .
If they do not go to class they need to go home to mom . Really we should drop college sports and make it all semi pro
If a football player fails to take full advantage of an education after 3 years, that's on the player. But if the coaches and the staff are doing their job, that player should be a full 3 years down the road on credit hours toward a degree. One and done is an abysmal attempt to even simulate a college education. It's no more virtuous, in the pursuit of a secular education than the minor leagues. And both require about the same amount of attention in the classroom.
After football season I automatically skip over basketball and get ready for baseball season at LSU. I stopped keeping up with them when they hired Trent. What a joke.. College basketball isn't what it used to be..
Why would a one and done player worry about going to class? The NBA doesn't have the class to use the same three year rule that the NFL does.
