SI released a list of the nation's 15 top quarterbacks: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/multimedia/photo_gallery/0610/gallery.cfb.top15qbs/content.1.html Obviously Jamarcus is hurt by the big games he's been in (Auburn and Florida). Do you guys think he should be on this list? He is 2nd in passing efficiency in the NCAA but has probably gotten a bad rap because of the three picks against Florida, which Miles says none were his fault, and I agree. Anyway, just interested in find out what everyone thinks. I think he should be on it.
Definitely, I think even a lot of the fans who don't like him would agree he's much better than some of the ones on SI's list. How could he have been mentioned in the same breath as "Heisman candidate" then be dropped of the map because of two losses. I know someone is going to take the angle about it coming down to wins and losses and I agree; however, if anyone looks in depth: The Auburn game- the refs sure made it hard to win; the Florida game- our special teams hurt us a lot (among other things). And yes, we still had opportunities to win both and he did make mistakes but some of the ones on that list have made them too. Not only that, some of those on the "Top 15" list play in much weaker conferences but that's just a SI list and I don't put much stock in it. I don't always like their best cheerleaders or fans each week either. I know not everyone agrees (I defended him at coffee this morning and day before yesterday in another gathering) but he is a good quarterback. Coach Miles knows at the end of the day he'll be the one accountable if the team loses and he chose him. Having said that, I am anxious for the day when we get to watch Ryan P with K. Williams and C. Scott in the backfield. Most people like Scott but (I certainly do) but I got into a heated one last at a high school game...... with a cousin of mine who's a MLB catcher and a big LSU fan- he doesn't think C. Scott is all that. Just goes to show how different people's perceptions can be.
Wow I would think he'd be on the list. I haven't looked at it yet but there are not too many other QBs I can think of. (Zac Taylor better not be on it)
Aside from strength of conference, I would have thought they at least looked at QB ratings but apparently didn't even do that. To me the most obvious one that shouldn't be on the list is Houston QB Kevin Kolb has a 165.9 QB rating IN CONFERENCE USA! Tyler Palko from Pitt has a 188.6 QB rating but in the Big Least conference. Their opponent's combined record is 18 wins and 28 losses. Russell's QB rating is 171.1 but he hasn't played the whole game in several- and probably won't tonight either. :yelwink2:
I agree. Some pro team is gonna take a chance on Ainge and be sorely disappointed. I know his numbers are good but I just don't think he's really any good.
Yeah JR should be about 8th or 9th in this list. I have a bigger problem with Leak (as opposed to Ainge) being on this list without JR being on it.
