I think Surrency is pretty much a lock. I also think we get TJ Bryant and JB Shugarts. We have a few more WRs on our board: Benton, Jones, Brown, and Tolliver. I am guessing 2 of them do not qualify. I doubt Jones comes here, so I think we get either Benton, Brown, or Tolliver. I know we have at least 2 RBs on our board, Scott and Jerico Nelson. We get at least one of them, probably Nelson. I am not sure which current current commits will have trouble qualifying, other than J. Taylor. So we will sign at least one extra guy since he wont be coming. I know there are a lot of other guys we could get, so please post your opinions.
This is purely a guess, so don't take it as any kind of inside info or anything. If we're really getting serious looks from the likes of Beal and Bryant, we'll probably put ALL of the jucos on the backburner.
I have heard that we will take 1 JUCO guy this year. Surrency is the #1 JUCO player on our board. Are there any other dline prospects on our board? We signed 5 last year, but 2 were moved to oline. This year we have signed one. Also, I think we only sign one RB. We only lose Hester and LA is filled with RBs next year.
Simi Kuli and Justin Thompson are the two other JUCO/El Camino guys besides Surrency. Kuli's a DE and Thompson a DT if I'm not mistaken. Keep hearing that they might come here as a package deal...
Surrency loves LSU, but he likes Florida St's depth chart a lot more plus he's got family & friends there. He's no lock, but it appears he would be a take if he wanted to commit (apparently that is not the case with the other 2 JUCOs). We're in the thick of it with TJ, but Mike/Sonny no longer feel good about our chances with Shugarts. Benton is committed to LSU, regardless of what Rivals & Scout have on his profile. Brown & Tolliver are both thought to be LSU's, but J. Taylor has supposedly made great strides in the classroom so that could shake up whether we would take commitments from both of them. Nelson projects as a Safety & I don't think we really want him. We will not get Scott. The RB from Georgia would be a take, but most think he favors UGA. Mike & Sonny think we will oversign & have 8 scholarships left to give.
Jordan Jefferson still doesn't have an offer - looks like we're still working on the 3 guys atop of our board. I don't know what's going to happen with that, but most people seem to think it's just a matter of time before Jordan gets his offer & then he would commit.
Cant believe I forgot about Clement. But I think he might be moved to OL. And we really dont need to sign a RB this year. We did sign one last year(Ridley) and there are about 4 RBs in LA next year that will be 4*s or higher. And do you think Jefferson will get an offer? We dont need to get a QB this year.
Rivals has an update on Benay Pryer up on the home page right now, and he's a great but raw DE that LSU is recruiting. I don't see us taking 3 DE's in this class though (assuming Aghayere stays on board & we get Clement). Maybe he'll take a grayshirt?
