Seems a little too high for Smith to for-go his Sr. year. I think he'll be back. I think it's safe to say that he can improve on the 6th round pick. After all, there's only 7 rounds....
No, actually, there are a lot more than 7 rounds. Nobody has ever been able to tell me exactly how many there are for sure, but it sure doesn't stop at 7. A prime example of this is Mike Piazza, a 62nd round pick back in the early 90s. It pains me to say it, but as a 6th round pick, I think it's a pretty safe bet that Smith is now a professional ballplayer. Guys in the first 10 rounds generally get pretty good money to sign.
he is gone. i predicted he would go in the 8th if a righty but since a lefty he moves up 5 to the 3rd. I was off a couple and he goes in the 5th. there are 50 rounds yet many teams opt not to choose that many. there used to be a lot more. mike piazza was picked in the 62nd round by the dodgers only because his godfather is tommy lasorda.
Thanks for the correction...I misread it wrong, I saw "coverage of rounds 1-7" and registured "7 rounds". My bad.
i believe the draft is 50 rounds.....congrats to smitty...i just wish he woulda been back for his senior year....he did promise me the other day that he wouldnt forget me or the whole lsu thing...i talked to him at regionals this weekend.....so good luck greg! :geauxtige :tigbas: LSU!
My friend went to high school with him and said hes a really nice guy.....I hope him well in whatever he does...i wish he would come back for one more year but i wont be shocked at all if he doesnt.
