1. I know what you're thinking, I drank myself into a stupor and don't remember the game... Wasn't the case. I drank a good bit but nothing that crossed the line of a nice happy buzz. It was my first home game in awhile and I had sensory overload. What with the food, old friends, the band, Tiger Stadium, playing Bama, showing around a first timer, etc... My adrenaline and excitement was through the roof. For some reason I can't remember the eb and flow of the game. To me, I never felt like there was a chance we would lose at any point. As a matter of fact, I thought if anything we might blow the game WIDE open! I remember being a bit frustrated with our secondary or maybe it was the lack of pressure but the running game negated that negativity for me.

I've heard a few say we weren't that impressive and that we could have lost. I had no such worries. Did I miss something? I remember when I played ball in highschool I would be so high on adrenaline I could barely remember much about a game, even right after it was over. Maybe adrenaline does that, I don't know. So what's the scoop, did I see things correctly or were playing poorly or even at risk of losing the game?

Again, I remember the D bending a little too much for what we're used to but that happens now and again. They'll tighten up. I really liked seeing us finally breaking some big runs. That aspect has been sorely missed.
  2. at no point was i ever worried that we might lose the game. not really sure why...i think I am becoming complacent as a fan.
  3. Definitely a mixed bag of results as you indicated. Great QB play by JR, the running game looked solid, but then our corners all of a sudden looked suspect.

Trust me, the problem with our pass rush/pass coverage WILL get corrected. No worries with Pellini.

I too wasn't worried one bit that the game was ever in the balance. At the same time, I knew we couldn't afford a lackluster result concerning the human polls. We fared ok in the end, especially considering the fact that had they had another minute on the clock we would have won 35-14 instead.
  4. I wonder if the corners were being forced to hold coverage for too long? I think we should have brought more heat. But I agree, it will be fixed, they bent a little but did not break and I put more faith in the way they've played this entire season than on this one game. If anything it may help us against Arkansas. Better to have a weakness exposed against a team you can make up for it against than one where you need to play near perfect (assuming Arky plays well, of course).

I hope the reason for the few critical fans is that they were expecting home blowouts like every other time this year. Bama was looking for redemption, had nothing to lose, their coach's seat is getting uncomfortably hot, etc... We handled them by 2 TDs and to me, the game was never in doubt. We've become a bit spoiled when we're getting down on our team for that performance. I don't want to make it sound like it was only a few LSU fans, plenty of other teams' fans, and that's to be expected. All in all it seems most here are happy with the win.
  5. Excellent post.

You're exactly right, this is probably a blessing in disguise to see a little chink in the proverbial armor otherwise known as the vaunted LSU defense. Get it corrected and hold McFadden and Co. in check November 24th and come away with the 'W'.

Not sure what the fans were expecting, but the line was only 17. The game played out about what the line was predictiing.

It's kinda cool that we're disappointed with a 14 pt win over Bama. Its a tremendous testament to the current status of LSU football.
  6. well put
  7. I felt the same way as some of you did. Like we were always going to win the game. And I realize why.

    We were executing.

We were executing nicely. At half-time, I had no worries at all. We played Bama the same way we play cupcakes. We are agressive and we execute. The only reason we didn't win by 49 is because Alabama is not a cupcake team.
  8. Nah, they're cupcake with a cherry on top.
  9. More like pancake...

Alabama is best described as a living legend, a perennial powerhouse that has had its hands tied behind its back due to Fulmer's lying to the NCAA and the unfair sanctions.

Alabama isn't a cupcake - 'Bama eats cupcakes.
