Why was he not in consideration for the Lombardi trophy? Pollack won it.. Pollack had one more sack than Spears, less tackles for a loss.. equal number of total tackles, and spears had a pick for a TD.. must be Pollack's motor that won it for him...
yeah....it was a motor that won it for Pollack....the media's neck motor that kept their head bobbing in Pollack's lap like a freggin' yoyo.
While I agree with you on Spears getting screwed....... Spears has won the ultimate team award in sports. Marcus has 2 SEC titles and a national championship ring.......
There were probably 10 other guys that were deserving of consideration for every one of these awards but most of them are won in the pre-season.
actually, I think most of these awards are flawed due to lack of proper homework and in turn, misinformation by all the fat media hacks. As cajdav said, they base them on the preseason awards and if the guy they pick finishes the season healthy, he basically wins by default. ya see they always pick players on winning teams then they rationalize their picks this way. hardly any do their jobs correctly and watch enough football to have a clue who the best players are especially if on an unranked team. watch the nfl draft and usually the people who are chosen ahead of the award winners paints the better picture. then again, tommie harris did go ahead of lavalais and clayton.
I don't mean to pick on you in particular, locoguano, but why is everything that doesn't go in LSU's favor always looked at as LSU being slighted cause we're LSU and EVERYONE is just bias against LSU? Can LSU not win something without someone on this board saying it's all about bias? Someone had to win the award, there were plenty of candidates and other schools out there other than LSU. Having said that, I would have given it to Spears.
